In my last blog post, I discussed where you can buy a Cheap NOOK.

The brand new NOOK Touch Reader started shipping in June 2011.  It looks like Barnes & Noble has yet again released another great eReader.  They’ve updated some of the features from the original version for the Touch Reader.  The reviews look really promising so far.  Let’s take a closer look and see what this eReader has to offer.

The NOOK Simple Touch Reader

This has a 6 inch touchscreen with improved E Ink Pearl technology.  Barnes & Noble has improved the contrast on this by 50% from the first edition.  Like the original, this can also be read outdoors in sunlight without glare.  One thing that should be pointed out is that this device doesn’t have a color screen but still has plenty of other great features.

This weighs less than eight ounces and is really thin.  This should be light enough for just about anybody.  I really appreciate a light weight eReader because I sometimes read with it propped on my legs or resting on my lap.  Maybe you take your laptop with you everywhere.  Now you can easily slip this into your laptop bag and it won’t even be noticeably heavier.

With the Touch Reader, you will get free Wifi at all AT&T hotspots.  This is really quite convenient because AT&T seems to have many hotspots.  Also you will have free Wifi at any Barnes & Noble bookstore.  I really love having built in Wifi, and I’m still surprised by how much I use this feature.

As with the color version, you can read newspapers and magazines.  Best of all, you can have these delivered wirelessly.  This will definitely be a time saver and very convenient for most people.  It’s perfect whether you want to read just one issue or buy an entire year’s subscription.

In case you missed it, I discussed where to get a NOOK for Sale at a great price in my last blog post.

The NOOK Color is simply incredible.  People are very impressed with it, and why shouldn’t they be?  It has 8GB of memory, which means that it can hold thousands of books.  Newspapers and magazines really come to life in full color.  Also newspapers and magazines will look exactly the way they do on the newsstand.  It has built-in Wi-Fi, and this is something that many people consider a must-have when choosing an ereader.

In my last blog post, I discussed the NOOK- Color Screen.

With summer vacation right around the corner, this is a must-have item.  Enjoy reading on the beach in style with one of these.  So many books are available free or cheap from Barnes & Noble that you’ll still have plenty of money left for the vacation fund.

I wasn’t sure if I would like any ebook reader.  When you’ve loved reading all of your life, you tend to be a little picky.  I was completely caught off guard when I got a NOOK for Christmas.  Now I can’t imagine not having it – it’s that great.

What are Some Popular Features?

The classics can usually be found for free or cheap.  Just about everyone has several classic books that they want to read, but they never actually get around to it.  Now there’s no excuse for not reading your Shakespeare!  I actually love reading the classics, and I get them from Project Gutenberg for free.  It’s nice to read the classics without being forced to for a literature class.  If you love to read but hate spending money on books, this is a great alternative for you.

The bookmark option lets you easily save your place.  Bookmarking a physical book is never this easy.  Many people, like me, just leave the book open facedown which isn’t great for your book.  Too many people also just fold down the corner of their page, which also isn’t the best thing for the book.  Now you don’t have to worry about ruining your book in order to bookmark the page.

If you need to replace your battery, you can just order another one.  This is really convenient because it means that you don’t have to send the product in to have the battery replaced.  I haven’t had to replace my battery, but I have removed the back cover and found it was easy.  I’m not the most savvy when it comes to technical stuff, but it was easy even by my standards.  According to the reviews that I’ve read, the battery replacement is pretty easy.

Barnes & Noble’s LendMe feature is perfect for for those who have friends with ereaders. The books can be loaned for 14 days, which is more than enough time for most people. Throughout my life, whenever I read an amazing book I always wanted to loan the book to friends so that I would have someone to discuss it with.  Now this is really easy with LendMe.

The accessories that are available will help protect it and look stylish at the same time. The covers vary in price and style, but there’s sure to be one that fits your budget.  The silicone frame is perfect if you want to give it a little more protection, and the marine color is nice if you like a splash of color.  Do you carry your NOOK with you everywhere? In my previous blog post, I spent some time talking about where to get a NOOK on Sale.
